About Nicole Ebert
Nicole Ebert has spent 37 years in competitive swimming — not as a hobby, not as a side job, but as her life's defining pursuit. She has trained with the greatest swimmer in history, held a world ranking before she could drive a car, earned a full athletic scholarship to a Division I university, and she is still competing nationally today, ranking in the top 10 in the country. Now she brings every bit of that experience to her students in Houston and The Woodlands.
Her Journey
From World-Ranked Swimmer to Houston's Premier Swim Coach
Early Career
A Prodigy in the Water
Nicole Ebert's swimming career began long before most coaches ever dove in. By age 14, she was ranked 48th fastest female swimmer in the entire world — a distinction earned through relentless training, natural talent, and an obsession with perfecting every stroke. By 13, she had already earned Junior National times in the 500 Free, 1000 Free, and 1650 Free, and Senior National time in the 1500 Meter Freestyle — achievements that put her in elite company nationwide.
She was ranked #1 in the Top 16 national rankings in three events at age 13. She set a State Record in the 200 Yard Free Relay in 1994. She attended the Speedo/USS National Select Camp at the Olympic Training Center — first at the Silver Level, then returning at the prestigious Gold Level. She was among the best young female distance swimmers in the country, and the swimming world knew it.
High School
Dominating Texas High School Swimming
At Klein High School, Nicole Ebert was simply the best. She earned All State First Team honors in the 500 Free, 400 Free Relay, and 200 Free Relay in 1999. She was named Most Valuable Swimmer. She set school records — including the Freshman 500 Free record that still stands today. She earned All-American Interscholastic honors on the 1st Team in four events: the 200 Free, 500 Free, 400 Free Relay, and 200 Free Relay.
Off the pool deck, she was a National Honor Society member and a finalist in the Houston Writing League Manuscript Contest.
Olympic Training Center
Training Alongside the Greatest of All Time
Nicole Ebert trained at the U.S. Olympic Training Center — the pinnacle of American athletic development — and trained alongside Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history. That environment shaped not just her technique, but her understanding of what elite-level commitment looks like in practice. The standards she trained to at the OTC are the standards she brings to every lesson she teaches today.
University of Pittsburgh
Full Scholarship. Record-Breaking Career at Pitt.
Nicole Ebert's achievements earned her a full athletic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where she continued to redefine what was possible. She was named Freshman Athlete of the Winter. She set freshman records in the 200 Fly, 200 Free, 500 Free, 1000 Free, and 1650 Free — five events. She went on to hold school records in the 200 Butterfly and 500 Free.
She earned a spot on the Big East All-Conference Team with a 3rd place finish in the 1650 Free, was named to the Big East Academic All-Star Team, the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, and the Dean's List. She was awarded the Petersen Scholarship for academic performance.
Post-College & Today
All-American. Still Competing. Still Winning.
After college, Nicole Ebert was named All-American with a 1st place national ranking in the 200 Freestyle. She holds top 10 national rankings in 10 total events. And she has never stopped competing.
Today, Nicole Ebert still competes on the national level and consistently ranks in the top 10 in the country — which means her knowledge of elite swimming technique is not theoretical or nostalgic. It is current, tested, and proven.
The Teacher Behind the Coach
Elite Swimmer. Passionate Educator.
Before building her full-time coaching practice, Nicole Ebert spent 5.5 years as a classroom teacher. That experience fundamentally shapes how she coaches. Where most elite swimmers can demonstrate perfect technique, Nicole Ebert can identify how a specific child learns — whether they're visual, auditory, or kinesthetic — and adapt her instruction accordingly.
The result is a coach who can serve a terrified 3-year-old who won't put their face in the water and a competitive teenager preparing for district championships — and get measurable results with both.
Coaching Philosophy
Every Child Is Different. Every Lesson Shows It.
Nicole Ebert uses a blend of elite swimming expertise, psychology, and genuine love for working with children to create lessons that meet each student exactly where they are. She pays close attention to what each child responds to — the praise that motivates them, the drill that finally clicks, the moment of confidence that changes everything. No lesson is scripted. No two students follow the same path.
This approach means children advance exactly as far as they're ready to go in every session. There's no rushing, no holding back — just thoughtful, individualized instruction from one of the most credentialed swim coaches in Texas.
